Psst… pass it on

We all want healthy children and grandchildren, probably more than we want anything else in the world. So it makes sense to start them off early on the path of looking after themselves, and equip them with the potential to pass it on.

From the earliest stages of life, from follicle formation through fertilisation, embryo development, breast-feeding, weaning, early years, puberty, all the way to menopause and senescence, nutrition plays a vital part in the structure and function of our bodies.

The passing of skills and knowledge from mother to daughter is a time-honoured way of looking after family health, but in our high speed, high stress, high tech world there isn’t always time to get the message across. Many mums find it hard to know what to do for themselves, never mind pass their ideas down the generations. Everything seems to be changing fast. Is there anything you can reliably pass on?

That’s what my Mother & Daughter sessions are all about. They are designed to talk you through the latest nutritional ideas – to explain exactly why and how the food you eat is vital for health; to learn how to match your food to your health and lifestyle; and to inspire you to choose and prepare food that will support you through your different life phases. It makes all the difference if you both understand what’s important, turning it into a shared adventure rather than a chore, and learning together reduces the nagging factor by several notches.

You can come at any age and any stage. Bring your newborn or your teenager – or your newly fertilised egg if you like! Or when the table turns bring your ageing mum: nutrition is so important in later years. Come whenever it feels as though you don’t have either the time or the knowledge to take care of yourself and those you love. It’s a great way to tackle weight problems with sensitivity and facts, or deal with worries about family health history.

Before our session I’ll ask you to complete a short questionnaire. In the session we’ll deal with your key health issues and nutrition for your particular life stage, spend plenty of time talking about the practical aspects of shopping and cooking, eating and digesting. You’ll leave with a clear plan and maybe with a couple of supplement suggestions if it’s appropriate.

Each Mother and Daughter session lasts 90 minutes and costs £90.

It’ll be fun, I promise.
